Title: I said nothing.

When I heard screams from a neighbour's flat,
I said nothing.
When I got conned by the local rat,
I said nothing.
And when a good friend took a break up hard,
I pretended that my mobile had a fucked up card.
I might have consoled her but instead
I said nothing.

When I knew my father lied in court,
I said nothing.
When I got insulted by a violent sort,
I said nothing.
And when my ex-girlfriend came home late,
and I was all affronted that she made me wait,
I might have excused her but instead
I said plenty.
