Title: Old, wasted and white

To be sung to the tune of Young, gifted and black!
No offence to Nina Simone

To be old, wasted and white,
Oh what an awful nightmare.
To be old, wasted and white,
Open your eyes and stare.

In the whole world you know,
There are billion men and women
Who are old, wasted and white,
And that’s their plight!

Old, wasted and white,
We must begin to tell our young
This is the end waiting for you
Now that your downfall’s begun.

When you feel really high
Yeah, there’s a sad truth you should know
When you’re old, wasted and white
You look a sight!

Old, wasted and white,
How I long to relive my youth
There are times when I look back
And I am haunted by the truth.

Oh but my fear now today
Is that we can all be ashamed to say
To be old, wasted and white,
Is not alright.
