Title:
Crippling Debt
Going back a good few years A century or more Those on top were pretty smart To use religion as their whore The church was given riches To keep it mighty wealthy And it in turn used religion To rack up fear so stealthy Men and women cowered Saying prayers down on their knees Lest they make God angry Best keep Him appeased But time goes by and people learnt Perhaps God isn’t there Those on top had a rethink On how to keep people scared In the nick of time with wars and fear Along came century twenty Fascists and commies running rife Causing anxiety a plenty Those on top could sit back down The people once more cowered The red peril banging at the door An excuse for nuclear powers But would you believe it The wall came down Time for another rethink Before the people woke up and began to cause a stink And what now is there left to do To subjugate the masses? Credit cards and store cards And top up fees for classes! Everyone now scared of black lists Crippling rates of interest The folks tied to the banks for life Now that’s what I call progress
