Title:
The Dram Shop at Christmas
A blanket of heavy blue smoke is their cover Slowly moved by a theatrical waving arm She lifts the hem of her long winter skirt To show her shoes as she dances the dance of merriment.
To lift a glass like a king and toast a queen And bow in exaggerated appreciation To kiss a gloved hand and steal a waltz And hope for human intimacy
Ah, the mistletoe, the mistletoe. Kiss me for a brandy And kiss again and I shall dance And as angels sing we will drink And lift our glasses to saviour king
And so once more, we all shall lift A glass or two for Christmas cheer And when the Whisky and Brandy flow We shall not be such easy sneer.
Merry Christmas to all and sundry
