I dialled a number this morning
and got put through to an automated machine,
it gave me a number of options
and the digits appeared on the screen.
I listened and chose very carefully
but now I'm in a holding queue,
Should I hang up? No, better not,
won't be long, before I'm put through.
"Your call is important to us,
we appreciated you holding the line!
Tapping my fingers anxiously,
checking my watch for the time
I have Greensleeves playing in my ear,
it's sending me off to sleep,
I wonder what number I am in the queue?
I wish I could take a peep.
"We are very busy at the moment,
we apologise for the delay"
"COME ON HURRY UP AND ANSWER" I shout,
before I forget what to say
"At last!" "Hello, Good Morning!
you've been put through to Kirk"
"Thank you, can you please inform my department
that I'm gonna be late for work?"
