Title:
Ol' Whiskey Breath
Ol' whiskey breath, you look like death I take it she's left you again Taken the kid, and your last shiny quid Now you're staggering about in the rain I told you to choose, between her and the booze Looks like you took the wrong turning Now she's filed for divorce, wants everything of course What lessons are you learning? Not many it seems, same impossible dreams Went double or quits on the horses Now you're going full throttle, with your half-empty bottle Draining the Earth's alcohol resources Ol' whiskey breath, more than a hair's breadth From the reality of your situation You say it's cool, tomorrow she'll call But the poison's got you taking dictation Now you seek a quick solution, a fast-love absolution A painted face who trades it on the street But you're way beyond discerning, take another wrongful turning And now you're mixing with a different kind of meat This is where I apprehend, though you used to be a friend I must take you by the arm and lead you home Before you sink much deeper, I must ask as head zoo-keeper That you leave that bloody chimpanzee alone.
