Title:
Yule-tide Accoutrements
The Druids gave us mistletoe; Prince Albert - Christmas trees; John Wesley gave us carols, with kings arriving, and in threes. According to old manuscripts that could be right or wrong, there were also cheerful shepherds full of bonhomie and song. For children its all lots of fun, a charming little story, but as you grow much older the halos and the glory become somehow less pertinent, and after food and lots to drink. Gifts, decoration, tinsel bring us tired, at the brink of saying ‘Thankfully its over until it comes again next year. I would say we’ve missed the point completely - I fear - oh yes - I fear.
