Title: The Siege

Beleaguered days
have groaned to weeks
and months
and (let’s face it) years
of angst, recrimination, tears
In reality we can’t converse
as there’s so little
we can say.

I’d like to speak
of past pleasantries
we may remember
once we are free
from the dis-temper
that thrives well here
with its manic laughter
through each pained disaster.

We flee
But don’t escape.
