Title:
Winter Sonnet
This is a sonnet my friend Fran and I wrote in our English Literature AS class. Hope you like it :)
The rustic leaves are pulled to earth below
The trees stripped bare, the colours dull and bleak.
The plants are dying, now no more can grow
A fox roots 'round, for nourishment he seeks.
Then winter waves its wand, the world must change
The plants are dead, the animals will sleep.
The falls of diamond snow engulf their range
The world becomes the palest canvas sheet.
The sun emerges, the snow is sparkling
Its beauty forever to amaze all.
The crispness of the air is startling
Yet it doesn't affect the robin's call.
Lost colour returns, the cold receding
The harsh white winter giving way to spring.
