Title:
the circle of slippers
A circle of slippers, the occasional laced leather, border a busy carpet. Dozing, silent, I wonder whether, sitting side-by-side, there is need for conversation when all you talk to is a woolly, knitted shoulder a creation of comfort - not loose chatter.
The wave of grey heads, eye-lids low in thought, recall past lives in detail; school days, poems long since taught. Old friends dearly loved and lost - but young once more - come to life beneath those lowered lids, and tenuously dance upon the slippered floor.
