Title: For the new day.

How cool the darkness now the day is done
and sunlight floats, then falls below the sky.
How pale the shadow of the crescent moon
as night descends to while the hours away.

And how precious each and every star
that shine like jewels in a maiden's hair ;
Girding all of heaven with their tinselled light
as unresisting day slips into restful night.

And if time moves at all, we shall not see,
for unveiled beauty is not ours to know ;
Instead, we sleep in manner and in mind,
held in the knowledge that our God is ever kind.
