Title:
Big Boys Toys
The garden smells of sweet content
An aromatic heaven - rose, lavender, sage
Caressed by gentle bumble-bees,
Calm beauty that nothing can assuage.
My spirits soar with pleasure
Is that a subtle quiver that I feel?
Are daisies trembling in the lush green grass?
Whose fears are worse as something rumbles in the air.
I’m suddenly aware of what will pass.
Into view the rampant cowboy roars -
Gleeful as he spurs his snorting steed
Towards the daisies, dandelions and clover
Quaking from his manly speed.
Why are big boy’s toys so noisy?
Gleaming gadgets in full cry.
No matter peace is shattered wholly -
They fling chopped grasses to the sky.
Ravaged clover, distraught daisies
Underneath those thoughtless wheels.
Bird-song lost within the uproar -
The jolly tyrant mangles
…………………peace with zeal.
