Title: quid pro quo

For light there is dark,
for joy, sorrow ;
And without winter
there can be no spring.

Thus it is that the world
keeps turning ; omnipresent,
ever watchful as tears fall
and laughter rises.

And tonight the moon is pale,
the stars gone early to sleep ;
And colour runs into colour
as the day blurs into night.

Yet somewhere, a flower blooms,
a child is born ; bringing reason
to all existence - joy to sorrow
and light into the dark.

For Rebecca. 9th May 2010.
