Title:
The Race
Two minutes now - track-suites off to lie limp In plastic baskets. Heart-beats, though collected expand with a release of the pent-up expertise that wins races.
Feet settle on the starting blocks; eyes focus straight ahead with undisguised intent. The gun barks - ‘start’ - Pigeons soar Crowds roar.
Two minutes! No - less. I sink back into the sofa. It’s over. Faces show positions - won - lost -? I need a cup of tea - exhausted.
