Treasured Yesterdays
When today becomes a long-gone yesterday
what will I remember?
Will it be these shoes -
so new - that pinch a bit.
Those pictures that I loved
but didn’t buy.
The unexpected concert
played in the student’s hall
with such panache.
Then supper. Light and lovely -
candlelit.
and you.
We’ll never end up ‘a pair’.
We both know our hearts belong elsewhere,
yet I shall remember this day.
A yesterday to treasure.
