Title: shoreline

Shoreline

There was love
that I could not contain.
It overflowed my being
with a storm-cloud
of such intensity
I could barely stand.

Then the undertow;
receding waves
that scoured the sand
before dispersing
into aqua depths
that I could never follow.

Now - the shallows
hold my loneliness.
Ripples purl gently
at the debris of a love.

I navigate alone,
aching for the breaker
that would, could, sweep me
back to those impassioned shores
before the undertow.
