Title:
Betrayal
How many syllables converse in this word?
Its duplicity, its faithlessness,
its leaking infidelity, breach of trust, and treason,
then perfidiousness, and Punic faith.
Add to that impressive list
deceit, deception, falsity,
clandestine disloyalty.
A Judas kiss.
A breach of love.
Which divulgation will you reveal?
Which cat will you let out of the bag
in your betrayal?
There is that possibility
in all of us.
This poem talks about words - their beauty, their sound.
Now read the poem with this alternative first line - what then.
How many sensibilities converge in this one word?
