Title:
"Did You Choose the Sunset?"
This piece was conceived as the result of a delayed train journey, on 14/9/06, owing to a fatality somewhere between Didcot Parkway and Paddington. Although death is a fact of life, it's still a bit sad, so don't read this if it's not your thing. Did your soul soar through the cerise sky? Did you make a wish as you said goodbye? Just a fatality Just a suicide Our train's delayed Our evening's wasted We're all subdued now Though some are angry We've missed connections And had our plans spoiled Did your soul soar through the cerise sky? Did you make a wish as you said goodbye? What made you do it? Was your heart broken? Did pain overwhelm you? Was your mind set on it? Did you choose the sunset? Did you want to scream out? Did no-one listen? Could they have helped you? Did your soul soar through the cerise sky? Did you make a wish as you said goodbye? Did you feel abandoned? No shoulder to cry on? Did you feel frightened? How much did you hurt? The sun's departed The sky has darkened Are you at peace now? Did you make your statement? Did your soul soar through the cerise sky? Did you make a wish as you said goodbye? Will your friends miss you? Did your family love you? Have tears filled their eyes? Will they break down and cry? What if it was your mum? Your husband or brother? Even your best friend? Could have been your lover? Did their soul soar through the cerise sky? Did you make a wish when they said goodbye?
