Title: “Ode t’Brian and Sheffield Friends”

Because everyone needs a little help from their friends…

Elaine and John, they did worry –
How would their friend get the London job
If there were no trains or buses
Owing to the severe Sheffield floods?

White Knight Brian arrived in a hurry.
He offered his steed as far as Derby
Where, to London they’d been assured,
They’d find Mainline trains a-plenty.

The threesome together they set off -
That’s Brian, Elaine and t’friend.
Would they manage in time to reach Derby,
Or would they find another dead end?

The A6 and London was calling,
So Brian drove safely and fast.
The window was wound down many times.
Were they on the right road at last?

It was an uneventful journey
Until they met with floods in Duffield.
A Nottingham bus blocked the road –
Or was it in the middle of a field?

A detour was quickly undertaken
And they reached Derby at long last.
The friend was visibly shaken
By their kindness – karma from her past?

Aye up, little tale’s to say “thank you”
‘Cos you are reet good lass and lads!
Couldn't a got t’job wi’out ya –
And Brian? He’s the reetist good lad!
