Title: Racquets & Rackets

(In Anticipation of the Next Two Weeks)

Women of Wimbledon tennis are we,
ready to clobber each adversary.
Battersea Dog’s Home can never compete
with all of the racket we make when we meet.

Shouting and shrieking and barking on court,
not really fussed about being good sports.
Opponents don’t matter as long as we get
the greater advantage and best of three sets

We argued consistently time and again
in order to gain equal pay with the men -
-so no more court clamours, we’ll save energy
In case we play five sets. instead of just three!
